Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has paid tribute to the people killed in the Pahalgam terror attack in the assembly. At the same time, tears were seen in his eyes due to this attack. While speaking in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly, he said that no Kashmiri is supporting the terror attack. For the first time, the people of Kashmir are united.
CM Omar Abdullah said, ‘This incident has affected the whole country. We have seen many such attacks before. Such a large-scale attack has been carried out in Baisaran of Pahalgam after 21 years. I did not know how to apologize to the families of the deceased. Being the host, it was my duty to send the tourists back safely. I could not do this. I do not have words to apologize.’
Jammu and Kashmir said, “I will not use this occasion to demand statehood. After Pahalgam, how can I ask for statehood for Jammu and Kashmir? Is my politics so cheap? We have talked about statehood in the past and will do so in the future too, but if I tell the central government that 26 people have died, now give me statehood, it will be shameful for me.”
The assembly members also observed two minutes of silence to pay tribute to the 26 people killed in the terrorist attack in pahalgam on April 22. According to the resolution document, “This House expresses deep shock and anguish at the barbaric and inhuman attack on innocent civilians in Pahalgam. This House unequivocally condemns this heinous, cowardly act which resulted in the loss of innocent lives.”
