New Delhi : Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the newly built Janganana Bhawan in New Delhi this evening. He also launched Web portal for Birth and Death Registration, an Upgraded SRS Mobile Application with Geofencing, and Web portal for Online Sale of Census Publications. Mr Shah also released Census Compendium from 1981 to upcoming Census.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Shah said, development plans can only be made when accurate data is available. He expressed confidence that the data from the next census exercise will help in making India a developed nation. Mr Shah said, Census data is helpful in making the basic plan of development and providing basic amenities to the underprivileged and exploited. He said, Government will now conduct the census electronically, in which every person will have the right to fill the data, it will be verified and audited and it will include more than 35 parameters of socio-economic status.
The Home Minister said, basic amenities like water, electricity, house, and health were not available for almost 70 years after the independence because no one knew the availability of necessary budget required for them. He said, the Government will provide facilities to the poor by proper analysis of the data. Mr Shah said, Government is going to make such arrangements that as soon as a person turns 18, the Election Commission will take information from him and make his voter card, and in case of death of someone, the census registrar will send the information to the Election Commission and his name will be removed from the voters’ list.
The Home Minister said, online sale of all publications related to census has started today and it will provide great relief to the researchers. He said, registration of birth and death is very important for any country and it helps in making development plans between two censuses. Mr Shah said, Government is making this process easier by making it online.
The Home Minister said, the Janganana Bhawan is a towering symbol of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to accelerating development and strengthening democratic institutions. It fulfills the demands of 21st-century census processes in terms of technology and other facilities, he added.
Ministers of State for Home Nityanand Rai and Ajay Mishra, Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Registrar General of India and Census Commissioner Mritunjay Kumar Narayan were present on the occasion among others.
