Train Accident : The Sealdah bound Kanchenjunga Express in West Bengal collided with goods train near New Jalpaiguri on Monday morning. A senior official of the North Frontier Railway (NFR) gave this information. The railway has issued helpline numbers for the assistance and information regarding the derailments of Kanchenjunga Express in West Bengal.
The Divisional Railway Manager of the North Frontier Railway Katihar Division said that 5 people are reported dead in this accident that occurred around 9 am.
The official said that 13174 Kanchenjunga Express coming from Agartala collided with a freight train near Rangapani near New Jalpaiguri station. Relief and rescue operations are underway after the accident. The railways have issued helpline numbers for passengers.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee posted on social media platform ‘X’ and said, Shocked to learn, just now, about a tragic train accident, in Phansidewa area of Darjeeling district. While details are awaited, Kanchenjunga Express has reportedly been hit by a goods train. DM, SP, doctors, ambulances and disaster teams have been rushed to the site for rescue, recovery, medical assistance. Action on war-footing initiated.
