Lok Sabha Elections 2024 : The Election Commission has announced the dates of Lok Sabha elections today. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that this time the Lok Sabha elections will be conducted in 7 phases. Polling will start on April 19 and the results will be declared on June 4.
The Election Commissioner told that all preparations for the elections have been completed. Apart from this, strict security arrangements have been made at the polling booths.
Along with the general elections, assembly elections will also be held in 4 states. Elections will be held in Andhra Pradesh on 13 May. Voting in Sikkim and Arunachal on 19 April. Voting in Odisha will be held in 7 phases.
Chief Election Commissioner further said that there are 96.8 crore voters in the country and more than 10 lakh booths will be there for voting. This time 1.8 crore voters will vote for the first time and there will be a total of 21.5 crore youth voters. The number of male voters is 49.7 crore, Mr. kumar added.
Now parties will have to disclose the criminal record of their candidate. Along with this, it will also have to be explained why that candidate was given the ticket and why no other person from the area was given the ticket. This time voters above 85 years of age can vote from home.
The Chief Election Commissioner said that the number of women voters has increased. In many areas the number of women voters is more than men. At the same time, this time there will be 85 lakh first time women voters. There will be a control room in every district.
