New Delhi : Bharat Ratna will be given to Bharatiya Janata Party founder leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani. He is the second BJP leader to receive this honor after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. PM Narendra Modi announced this and posted it on Twitter.
In his X post the PM said, ” I am very happy to share that Shri LK Advani Ji will be conferred the Bharat Ratna. I also spoke to him and congratulated him on being conferred this honour. One of the most respected statesmen of our times, his contribution to the development of India is monumental. His is a life that started from working at the grassroots to serving the nation as our Deputy Prime Minister. He distinguished himself as our Home Minister and I&B Minister as well. His Parliamentary interventions have always been exemplary, full of rich insights.”
“BJP Veteran Advani’s political Journey”
Advani was born on 8 November 1927. Between 2002 and 2004, he was the 7th Deputy Prime Minister in the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Before this, he was the Home Minister in the NDA government between 1998 and 2004. He is also among the founder members of BJP.
At the age of 63, Lal Krishna Advani took out a Rath Yatra from Somnath in Gujarat to Ayodhya for the Ram Mandir movement. It was the result of Advani’s Rath Yatra that BJP, which had won two seats in 1984, got 120 seats in 1991. In addition to this, Advani gained recognition as a national leader in the entire country. The saffron party got a new identity in states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Bihar.
