Ind vs SA : South Africa defeats India by an innings and 32 runs in First Test

Ind vs SA : The first match of the 2-match Test series between India and South Africa was played in Centurion. The Indian cricket team had to face a crushing defeat by an innings and 32 runs lagging behind 0-1 in the Test series. Also, India’s dream of winning the Test series in South Africa was shattered again. Now India can level the series only by winning the second test match. The second test match is to be played in Cape Town from 3 January.

From Indian side only Virat Kohli performed holding one end in the second innings. Kohli scored 76 runs in 82 balls with the help of 12 fours and one six. Apart from Kohli, only Shubman Gill could reach double digits. No other batsman of Team India could touch double figures in the second inning.

Shreyas Iyer was out after scoring six runs, Yashasvi Jaiswal five, KL Rahul four, Mohammad Siraj four and Shardul Thakur scored two runs. Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin could not open the account. Prasidh Krishna remained unbeaten without opening the account. For South Africa, Nandre Berger took four wickets, Marco Jansen took three and Kagiso Rabada took two wickets.

Left arm fast bowler Nandre Berger, playing his first Test in the second innings bowling for South Africa, performed brilliantly and took 4 wickets in which he made Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammed Siraj his victims. Apart from this, Marco Jansen also managed to take 3 wickets, while Kagiso Rabada took 2 wickets. Now the second and last Test match of this series between the two teams will be played at the Newlands ground in Cape Town from January 3.

A good performance was expected from team india, after falling behind by 163 runs in the first innings. However this could not happen. In the second innings, the Indian team’s innings seemed on backfoot from the beginning. The India kept loosing wicket one after another. The Indian team could play only 34.1 overs in the second innings as entire team collapsed for 131 runs.

South Africa scored 408 runs in its first innings and took a huge lead of 163 runs. Dean Elgar faced 287 balls and scored 185 runs, which included 28 fours. Whereas Marco Jansen scored unbeaten 84 runs with the help of 11 fours and one six. Captain Temba Bavuma did not come to bat due to injury. For India, Jasprit Bumrah took four wickets and Mohammad Siraj took two wickets.
