Former PM  Manmohan Singh passes away at 92

New Delhi : Former PM Manmohan Singh has died at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi. He died at 9:51 pm in AIIMS. He was admitted to AIIMS after fainting this evening, where he died. Former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh was facing health problems for a long time. Earlier also he had been admitted to the hospital many times due to health reasons.

He became PM in 2004

He led the country as the 14th Prime Minister of India for 10 years from 2004 to 2014. He was appointed the Prime Minister of India on 22 May 2004 after the general elections. He took oath as Prime Minister for the second time in 2009 and remained in this position till 2014.

His Notable works

During his 10 years of rule as Prime Minister, he took many big and important decisions that took India to greater heights. Right to Education (RTE), Right to Information (RTI), MNREGA scheme, among many other big decisions he took as Prime Minister. Apart from this, during his tenure, the Indian economy set new records of speed. He also revived the economy from the shocks of the economic recession of 2008.

Early Life and Education

Dr. Manmohan Singh was born on 26 September 1932 in the Punjab province of undivided India (now in Pakistan). After the partition of India in 1947, his family came to India when he was 14 years old. He was inclined towards education since childhood. He completed his early education from Punjab University. After this, he graduated from Cambridge University and obtained a doctorate in economics from Oxford University.
