Delhi Elections : Voting on February 5, counting on 8

Delhi Elections : Voting for all 70 seats of the Delhi Assembly will take place on February 5, and counting will be held on February 8.

Chief Election Commissioner Mr.Rajeev Kumar announced this during a press conference today. Along with this, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect in Delhi.

The notification will be issued on January 10. January 17 is the last date for nominations. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on January 18, and nominations can be withdrawn by January 20 he said.

The Chief Election Commissioner also stated that Delhi now has a total of 1,55,24,858 voters, including 83,49,645 males, 71,73,952 females, and 1,261 third-gender voters.

He mentioned that a total of 13,033 polling booths will be set up in the national capital, with an average of 1,191 voters per booth. People aged above 85 years can vote from home.

On this occasion, the Chief Election Commissioner responded to questions about irregularities in the voter list, concerns about EVMs, and measures to increase voter turnout.

He emphasized that elections are being conducted impartially. From 2020 to 2024, elections were held in 21 states, and 15 of them saw governments formed by different parties.
