CSK VS RCB : Defending champions Chennai Super Kings have started IPL 2024 with a win. Under the leadership of new captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Chennai defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets on their home ground. Bowler Mustafizur Rahman took four wickets due to his ‘variation’. Even after this, RCB team was successful in reaching 173 runs.
CSK had a target of 174 runs to win, which the team achieved with 6 wickets remaining and started the season with a win. Chennai team scored 176 runs for 4 wickets in 18.4 overs and also earned 2 points by winning this match. Rituraj Gaikwad made his captaincy debut in IPL through this match and under his captaincy, Chennai won in the very first match. In the first match of this season, former CSK team captain MS Dhoni did not get a chance to bat.
In reply, Chennai batted aggressively. Wickets fell at regular intervals but the team won the match with 8 balls remaining. RCB team has not been able to beat Chennai at Chepauk since 2008. Shivam Dubey scored 34 not out and Ravindra Jadeja scored 25 runs.
Batting first Captain Faf Duplessis gave a great start to the RCB team. Mustafizur made Faf walk. After this he sent Rajat Patidar to the pavilion without opening the account. Mustafizur Rahman got two successes in two overs and from here the fate of the match changed. Then Deepak Chahar dismissed Glenn Maxwell for zero. Mustafizur Rahman then gave success to CSK by dismissing Kohli and Cameron in the same over.
