New Delhi. West Bengal Trinamool Congress Youth Unit General Secretary Ashok Jha today alleged that the BJP government at the Centre is continuously engaged in destabilising the popular Mamata Banerjee government of West Bengal, which is not good for democracy.

Mr Jha made this allegation during a meeting at Gandhi Peace Foundation. He was asked that the incident in Murshidabad has brought disrepute to the Mamata government. He alleged that the BJP made a mountain out of a molehill of this incident.

He said that the Mamata government of West Bengal is engaged in the work of continuous development rising above caste and religion and the state is on the path of continuous progress. He said that 27 years of Left rule has made the agriculturally dominated Bengal poor. Efforts are being made to revive the industrial units.

In response to a question, Mr Jha said that the demand for a separate Mithila state is old. The formation of a separate state will lead to development there. The Centre should take initiative in this direction.
