BJP wins 78 seats in Odisha, Set to form government

New Delhi : The results of the Odisha assembly elections have also come along with Loksabha polls result. BJP has won the maximum number of seats in the state. By winning 78 seats, BJP has crossed the majority mark.

NDA was shown leading in all the major exit polls. BJP has won 20 out of 21 Lok Sabha seats. At the same time, one seat has gone to the account of Congress. The ruling BJD could not even open its account here.

The historic 24 year tenure of Naveen Patnaik, the outgoing CM came to end. If BJD had won, he would broken the record of being India’s longest-serving Chief Minister, surpassing former Sikkim CM Pawan Kumar Chamling.

Voting for 147 Odisha Assembly and 21 Lok Sabha seats was held in four phases from May 13 to June 1 and the results was declared today.

In the 2019 assembly elections, BJD got 112 seats. While BJP got 23 seats, Congress got nine, CPI M got one and one seat went to an independent. In this election, BJD got around 45 percent votes. While BJP got around 33 percent votes. Congress got 16 percent votes and others got 6 percent votes.
