Biparjoy : Rajasthan receives heavy rainfall; flood-like situation in several districts

The effect of Biparjoy storm in Gujarat is now also visible in Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of rain on Sunday evening and Monday. At the same time, flood situation has arisen in some areas of Rajasthan.

According to the Meteorological Department, the cyclone is currently in the middle of southern Rajasthan. Cyclone Biparjoy weakened after becoming more severe. It is moving in East-North East direction. Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely at one or two places over South Rajasthan and adjoining areas of North Gujarat. Due to the cyclone, it is raining only in Gujarat and Rajasthan.

In its forecast, the IMD has said that light to moderate rain may occur over most of Southeast and Northeast Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh on Monday.

Wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is very likely over South Rajasthan and adjoining North Gujarat areas by Sunday evening, which will reach East Rajasthan and adjoining areas by Monday morning.

There is a possibility of heavy rain in Rajasthan on Sunday evening as well. The rain is likely to continue on Monday morning as well. At the same time, due to heavy rains on Saturday, there are flood-like conditions in three districts of Barmer, Jalore and Sirohi. Water logging and flood-like conditions are being seen here. NDRF team is stationed in Siwan. Army’s help has been taken in Jalore’s Raniwada. All the three districts are adjacent to Gujarat. However, there is no information about any loss of life yet.
