PBKS vs KKR : Punjab Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 16 runs due to the brilliant performance of the bowlers led by spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Punjab won the toss in this match and batted first and scored 111 runs in 15.3 overs.
In response, the entire KKR team was all out for 95 runs in 15.1 overs. For Punjab, Chahal took four wickets for 28 runs in four overs, while fast bowler Marco Jansen took three wickets for 17 runs and made a significant contribution to the team’s unprecedented victory.
Punjab has thus defended the lowest score in IPL history. While chasing the target, KKR’s position was not good at any time and it lost wickets in the very first over. However, captain Ajinkya Rahane shared a 55-run partnership for the third wicket with Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who came in as an impact player, but as soon as this partnership broke, KKR’s innings fell apart like a pack of cards.
Towards the end Andre Russell tried to make the team win by playing some big shots, but he was not successful in his attempt due to continuous fall of wickets from the other end.
Raghuvanshi made the highest score of 37 runs for KKR, while Rahane scored 17 and Russell scored 17 runs. Apart from these three batsmen, no KKR batsman could reach double figures, while three of its batsmen could not even open their account.
Chahal performed brilliantly for Punjab. He had not been able to perform anything special so far this season, but in this match he has taken four wickets and also set record for four or more wickets in a match eight times in the IPL and equaling Sunil Narine’s record.
