New Delhi : After a long wait of 27 years in Delhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made a bumper comeback to power. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which was in power in Delhi for 13 years, was blown away in the storm of BJP. Congress, which was in power in Delhi for 15 years, could not gather its scattered support base this time too.
According to the election results, BJP is going to get 48 seats, AAP 22, and Congress 0 seats in the 70-member Delhi Assembly. A total of 699 candidates tried their luck in the elections this time. 60.54 percent votes were cast.
AAP stalwarts Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia have lost the election. Chief Minister Atishi has managed to win the election from Kalka ji. The worst situation was faced by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party JDU in Burari and LJP-R in Deoli, where they lost badly despite the alliance with BJP.
With the election results coming out, discussions have started in BJP regarding the Chief Minister’s chair, but the final decision has to be taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda.
Aap convenor Arvind Kejriwal has accepted his defeat and congratulated BJP for the victory. BJP has expressed gratitude to the public for the victory. On the other hand, Congress, knowing the gratitude of the public, has welcomed Kejriwal’s departure from the chair of Delhi.
Notification for Delhi Assembly elections was issued on January 10. Nominations were filed till January 17. Scrutiny of nomination papers was done on January 18 and January 20 was the last day for withdrawal of nomination.
According to the Election Commission, out of a total of 1 crore 55 lakh 24 thousand 858 voters in Delhi this time, there were 83 lakh 49 thousand 645 men and 71 lakh 73 thousand 952 women. The number of third gender voters was 1261.
For free and fair voting, he said that a total of 13 thousand 33 polling booths were made in the national capital, where strict security arrangements were made.
