Neeraj Chopra creates history, wins gold in Men’s Javelin Throw

Sports : Neeraj Chopra has created history as he became the first Indian to win the gold medal in Men’s Javelin throw at World Athletics Championships. Neeraj won the gold medal by throwing the javelin at a distance of 88.17 meters. He won the gold medal at midnight in Budapest.

A large number of people were awake even in the night to see Neeraj as he won the gold medal at midnight in Budapest. Neeraj also thanked all these people after winning the medal. The 88.17m on his second attempt proved to be the winner with 86.32m on his third, 84.64m on his fourth and 83.98m on his final attempt. Here’s the throw of Neeraj in which he achieved a distance of 88.17m and became the world champion.

Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem finished second in the javelin throw event at the World Athletics Championships. Commonwealth Games champion Arshad Nadeem won the silver with a best throw of 87.82m, while Jakub Vadlej of the Czech Republic took the bronze with a best throw of 86.67m.


Last time Neeraj chopra won a silver medal in the World Championship. The 25-year-old Indian star athlete won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. He also managed to win gold medals at the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games in 2018. He also won the Diamond League last year.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has congratulated Neeraj Chopra for winning the Gold at the World Athletics Championships.
