PM Modi conferred with Egypt’s highest honour ‘Order of the Nile’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded the ‘Order of the Nile’ by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Apart from this honour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi also signed an MoU in Cairo. During this visit, PM Modi also reached the 1000-year-old Al Hakeem Mosque in Egypt.
PM Modi has reached Egypt on a two-day visit. During this, Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli welcomed him at Cairo Airport. This is the first state visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Egypt since 1997. This visit will give a fresh impetus to the relations between the two countries. The visit is a major part of the Government of India’s efforts to strengthen its ties in West Asia and Africa. Earlier in January 2023, when Abdel Fattah al-Sisi came to India, the two countries had declared each other as strategic partners.
About Order of the Nile honour
Egypt established this honor in the year 1915. It was founded by Sultan Hussein Kamel and was reorganized again in 1953, when the monarchy ended as the Republic of Egypt. Explain that it is an important and prestigious honor that is dedicated to the heads of Egypt and foreign leaders.
The Order of Nile honor is like a necklace of pure gold. Three square pieces of gold are attached to it. On this are attached three units of gold flower decorated with turquoise and ruby. These three units have different meanings.

The first unit corresponds to the idea of protecting the kingdom from evils, the second unit represents happiness and prosperity brought by the Nile, and the third unit represents wealth and stamina.
This is the 13th highest state honor in Prime Minister Modi’s tenure of 9 years, which has been awarded to him by any government. The 12 other highest state honors received by PM Modi are Companion of the Order ofLogohu, Order of Abdulaziz Al Saud, Grand Collar of the State of Palestine Award, ‘State Order of Ghazi Amir Amanullah Khan, Order of St. Andrew Award, Order of Zayed Award, Order of the Distinguished Rule of Nishan Izzuddin, King Hamad Order of the Renaissance, Legion of Merit’, ‘Ngadag Pel gi Khorloor the Order of the Druk Gyalpo, Companion of the Order of Fiji, Abakal Award by the Republic of Pala.
